Laser Therapy
Using a CO2 laser for surgical procedures reduces the pain, bleeding and swelling for your pet. The laser seals off blood vessels, nerve endings and lymphatics, which results in less bleeding, inflammation and pain at the surgical site. Less inflammation and pain improves your pet’s recovery time.
Laser therapy is a painless, non-invasive form of treatment which stimulates the body’s natural healing and pain control response. It can be used as a standalone therapy or as a complement to other treatment methods. Using a small, handheld device, the doctor applies a low level laser to the area on question, stimulating normal cellular function. This results in faster wound healing and enhanced pain relief. Best of all, because laser therapy requires no medication or surgery, there are no harmful side effects.
Benefits to Laser Therapy:
• Anti-Inflammation – Decreases swelling from bruising/inflammation
• Anti-Pain – Blocks pain by decreasing nerve sensitivity
• Accelerates Tissue Repair, Cell Growth and Nerve Function
• Improves Circulation
• Accelerates Healing and Reduces Scarring
Digital Imaging

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a medical therapy that has been used in both humans and animals for over 3,000 years. It is a beneficial treatment in combination with current Western medicine. Acupuncture helps the body maintain balance between the involuntary “fight or flight” and “rest and digest” processes.
The practice of acupuncture involves inserting very thin, sterile, stainless steel needles into the skin at precise locations and depths. These precise locations, called accupoints, are determined by the anatomical convergence of blood vessels, connective tissue, muscles, and bones with nerves throughout the body. Acupuncture modulates the body’s biochemical and physiological function through stimulating the central nervous system.
Medical conditions that may respond to acupuncture include arthritis/degenerative joint disease, hip and elbow dysplasia, hot spots, diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, constipation, nerve injury, asthma, dry eye, seizures and invertebral disc disease.Acupuncture is also very effective in decreasing side effects from chemotherapy in cancer patients.
Acupuncture is a very safe medical treatment when properly performed by a certified acupuncturist. Side effects are rare but may include soft stool, runny eyes or runny nose, and initial sleepiness.
Most animal patients enjoy their acupuncture treatments. Some may react with a twitch if a point is sensitive. Once the needles are in place, many patients become very relaxed, and may even fall asleep. Each treatment is also followed up with a gentle massage!
